With the highly contagious cricket fever on, it’s not surprising that Citrus Hotels too held their annual Citrus Cricket League 2016 in Pune, which culminated yesterday, 22nd April. Started on 18th April, 11 matches were played at the Gahunje Ground, the teams comprising of staff from the Citrus Hotels across India. The six teams, christened Puneri Lions, Phantastic Phantoms, Mumbawala Ballbusters, Eleven Musketeers, Northern Targaryen and Broncos Bangalore, played the 20-20 format, upto the semi-finals, while the finals was played with 25 overs.
The finale, between the Broncos Bangalore and Mumbawala Ballbusters was a nail-biting match. While Mumbawala Ballbusters, led by captain Bhushan Kumud, scored 139 runs in 23.3 overs, Broncos Bangalore, led by Captain Nitin Pathak, won with 140 runs at a loss of 3 wickets in 18.1 overs, and walked away with the prestigious trophy.
The Man of the Match was Dheeraj Kumar of Broncos Bangalore, who scored 68 runs and took 1 wicket.
The Man of the Series was Surendra Yadav from Puneri Lions team.
This was the 4th edition of the Citrus Cricket League, hosted for the first time at Pune. The previous three editions were hosted by Goa. Gaurav Pallial, CEO, Citrus Hotels came down specially from Mumbai to cheer
